About Us

About Capital Pathways.

Sonsona's owner, Rashima, received a $10,000 grant as funding toward her Kiva campaign. "Being a small business focused on building relationships, it is always refreshing to work with and be a part of organizations who value and support relationship building. Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce (OAACC) exemplifies this quality in addition to being a go-to resource. Before joining OAACC, I was humbled and grateful for the genuine support the organization has provided to my business. From sponsoring my recent Kiva loan to engaging me with potential investors."

"This incubator means the world to me and in retrospect, all of the feedback that I received from the judges at Essence is aligned with all that I would gain from participating in this program (from mentorship to pitch consulting, training from investors, audits from accountants etc). After three attempts, I was finally approved to participate in the 2017 Halcyon Accelerator Program due to the feedback I received through the coaches and judges at Pitch City Competition at Essence Fest. I will be the ninth black woman accepted into their extended incubator program."

"The USBC-MER workshops were tremendously for helping me take my business to the next level in just a few short weeks for a number of reasons: § 1. Networking - This was perhaps the most useful aspect of the workshop. I was able to meet so many people who shared a wealth of resources and who were also potential partners or clients. § 2. Refining branding and elevator pitch - Introducing my business to so many people who were also supporters of Black businesses and/or fellow entrepreneurs was extremely useful and helped me refine my branding and elevator pitch. As a result, I was able to finalize a new brand identity for my company, including a new logo and tagline and updates to my website."

"This is a dual win for the Chamber. 1. We have exposed a business owner to the idea of growing his business through export and expansion of his services and 2. We have broken the cycle, once again, by having a local chamber of commerce support one of the export initiatives endorsed by the City of Phoenix. None of this would have been possible without the hard work of everyone involved with Capital Pathways and the ongoing support of the Economic Development Department who continues to include the Black Chamber of Arizona. Robin, in a very eloquent and succinct way, you managed to characterize it as “breaking the cycle” – which was truly needed. I commend you personally because none of this would have been possible without your tremendous leadership."
